SCA appoints new Chief Executive
Wednesday 23rd April 2008

ONE of Scotland’s leading rural campaigners has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Scottish Countryside Alliance.

Geva Blackett joins the SCA after many years in a senior role with the Scottish Gamekeepers Association

Geva, who is also an elected board member of the Cairngorms National Park Authority, pledged to defend Scotland’s country sports and give the SCA an even greater role in standing up for rural communities and their essential public services.

She said: "I am very honoured to be appointed as the new chief executive of the Scottish Countryside Alliance and to build on the excellent work of my predecessor Tony Andrews and the SCA team.

"Rural Scotland, fashioned and managed so well by our land managers, faces many challenges to its infrastructure.

"If our rural communities are to survive and thrive then we must ensure that local people are able to live in local homes and do local jobs.

"It is vitally important that MSPs address the needs of rural communities, whether it be jobs, healthcare, education, housing, protecting the rural way of life, or the diversity of our cherished environment.

"The SCA will always be at the forefront in defending and promoting rural Scotland."
