Woodcock in FlightWe have been informed that their has been illegal activity being carried out in Fermangh and Tyrone in that Woodcock are being lamped and killed. We are all aware that this is a wildlife crime and if any person is aware or knows the culprit please contact your nearest Police Station and report them immediately. The Police are aware of this situation but urgently need assistance to end this activity immediately
 
Countryside Alliance Ireland calls for a Voluntary Moratorium on Shooting
Frozen PondCountryside Alliance Ireland is calling on its members to impose a voluntary moratorium on shooting of any wild bird included in Part II of Schedule 1 or in Part 1 of Schedule 2 of the Wildlife (Northern Ireland) Order 1985. This call is due to the long spell of severe weather which has caused many lakes, ponds and other ground to remain frozen for a prolonged period time. During times such as these it is extremely difficult for many wildfowl and other wild birds to find food and a safe refuge.

Regulations and Bylaws for Wild Salmon Fishery in 2009

 Minister of State Seán Power has approved a suite of regulations and bylaws that will govern the wild salmon fishery in 2009 and which will come into effect from Thursday, 1 January 2009.
