Following the incident at Loughbrickland on 1 March 2011 (where the USPCA and PSNI seized a vehicle and trailer containing two stags which the USPCA believes were about to be released for hunting), CAI Chief Executive, Lyall Plant has released the following statement: “Countryside Alliance Ireland wholeheartedly condemns all illegal activity. As an active member of the Partnership for Action Against Wildlife Crime in Northern Ireland, we work together with other organisations to reduce wildlife crime by raising awareness and promoting effective enforcement. Animal welfare is of prime importance to all responsible country sports enthusiasts, who carry out their activities in a professional and ethical manner to ensure they are beyond reproach”.
