Mute Swan Shot near Castlewellan Print E-mail

 Police are appealing for information about the shooting of a Mute Swan near Castlewellan. 

The incident, at a pond on the Drumlee Road close to the Loughin Road junction, was reported to police on Wednesday 1st April. The swan was found dead at the pond. Police have a robust attitude to enforcing the Wildlife (NI) Order 1985.

 PAW NI – reporting wildlife crime

This form has been produced by PAW NI to facilitate the reporting of wildlife crimes and suspected incidents. Alleged criminal acts against protected species MUST continue to be reported to the PSNI in the first instance. However, as an additional avenue, all member organisations of PAW NI have agreed to record crimes/incidents reported to them by their staff, members or the public for quarterly submission to the UK National Wildlife Crime Unit (NWCU).
