4. Support our 2005/2006 Shooting Campaign

Help support the work of CAI on shooting issues.

Our 2005/2006 shooting campaign aims to Promote and Protect all shooting sports and by forging relationships with other shooting organisations, presenting a unified position within field sports.  This is increasingly important at a time when animal rights extremists are more and more focusing their efforts on shooting.

Wearing the CAI Shooting badge will:

• Help fight the political battles
• Protect the future of shooting
• Promote shooting & conservation

We are keen to support the shooting community as much as possible & widen our distribution network. Please help us by promoting these popular badges at your shoot or club this year. Two different badges are available and are colour coded and dated for each season (purple this year).

  • Season Badge 05/06 for a donation of £50/€75.
  • Supporter Badge 05/06 for a donation of £10/€15.

These 2005/2006 campaign badges will be available from our stand at all major Game and Country Fairs this summer.

Countryside Alliance Ireland (CAI) is pleased to announce that the Curraghmore 50 bird driven pheasant flush held on the Sunday May 22nd 2005 has been won for the second time by a four man team from Birr Co Offaly.

The members of the Birr team were Michael and Brian Dickson, Brian Smith and Seamus Glennon and with their final score of 49 could not be beaten on the day. This victory was only achieved following two shoot off's between them and the team from Co Limerick who won last year's NARGC national shoot at Ardee Co Louth.

This prize was generously donated by Donald Walshe of Dromoland Sports.

Despite some heavy showers the event was well supported with many other sporting traps in constant use throughout the day. Shooting skills and the ability to work as a team were the key to success in the 30 bird partridge flush with the highest score of the day being 25.

Countryside Alliance Ireland would like to thank the Marquis and Marchioness of Waterford for generously donating the use of their magnificent estate at Curraghmore, near Waterford, for the second Countryside Alliance Ireland annual clay pigeon shoot.

We also wish to thank Gene Murphy (Shooting & Fishin in Waterford) and his team of helpers for an impressive display of trap management on the day. David Moore of DMA Field Sports for generously sponsoring the clays for the competition, and all the volunteers who assisted Countryside Alliance Ireland over the weekend.
