1. Important Notice to Members
Members are advised that failure to renew your subscription on time means that your Insurance Cover is lapsed and that you will not be covered under our members benefits scheme. 2. CAI Board Elections
CAI Board Elections are presently being held and those members eligible to vote will receive their voting form and profiles on the candidates in our Newsletter which will be with you shortly. This is a momentous occasion and is the first time that members from the Republic of ireland are eligible to vote candidates on to the CAI Board. We encourage you to use your democratic right and vote for your preferred candidates(s). this is your organisation and the elected board members are your voice, representing your interests.

3. Member Numbers continiue to Grow
Membership numbers throughout Ireland have continued to grow rapidly. We have now taken on responsibility for managing our own membership administration and continue to improve our technology and resources available to meet this demand. We continually strive to provide our members with the very highest standards of service and part of this continued improvement has involved the purchasing of a new membership Management Software called MMS 2005. This new software will enable us to administer all membership matters locally.

4. Retriever and Spaniel Field Trials at CAI Game & Country Fair
We are pleased to announce that Clodagh Valley Field Trials Association will be holding their 21st Annual Working Tests for Retrievers and Spaniels at CAI's Game and Country Fair on the 31st July and 1st August 2005 at Clonmel Race Course, Powerstown Park, Clonmel.

The retriever trial will consist of Preliminary, Novice and Advanced and will be held on Sunday 31st July 2005. Enquiries for this event contact Hon. Secretary Mrs. Hanneke Simmons, Ballyknock, Tramore Co Waterford.

The Spaniel trial will consist of Novice and Advanced and will be held on Monday 1st August 2005. Enquiries for this event contact mr Jimmy King, Cul Na Killa, Bawnfune, Butlerstown, Co Waterford.

Countryside Alliance Ireland is placing special emphasis on the children's entertainment area making this a complete family day out. A full interactive programme will enable the children to enhance their coountry sports skills or obtain new ones. Activities such as fly casting, archery, shooting, dog handling skills and pony rides will be among the main attractions.

5. Support our 2005/2006 Shooting Campaign

Help support the work of CAI on shooting issues.

Our 2005/2006 shooting campaign aims to Promote and Protect all shooting sports and by forging relationships with other shooting organisations, presenting a unified position within field sports. This is increasingly important at a time when animal rights extremists are more and more focusing their efforts on shooting.

Wearing the CAI Shooting badge will:

Promote shooting & conservation


We are keen to support the shooting community as much as possible and widen our distribution network. Please help us by promoting these popular badges at your shoot or club this year.
Two different badges are available and are colour coded and dated for each season (purple this year)

6. Win a Day's rough Shooting for 4 Guns

Following on from last year's highly successful event, the Marquis and Marchioness of Waterford have once again generously donated the use of their magnificent estate at Curraghmore, Portlaw, Co Waterford for the second Countryside Alliance ireland annual clay pigeon shoot which will be held on Sunday 22nd May 2005.

Teams of 4 guns are invited to enter this prestigious event. This year there will be two 40 bird team flushes set up and in addition there will be three sporting traps. Entry for this event is only €100 per team of 4 guns and is open to all shooting enthusiasts.

Participants can enter as many times as they wish on the day. Winners of the team flush will enjoy a day's rough shooting on one of ireland's well known driven pheasant shoots at Lough Cutra Estate, co Galway.

This prize has been generously sponsored by Donald Walshe of Dromland Sports.

The CAI Shoot will commence at 09:30 on Sunday 22nd May 2005. There will be a light lunch provided for all participants. Entry forms can be obtained by contacting Nich Becker on 01 690 3610 or will be available on the day at curraghmore Estate.

David Moore of DMA Country Sports ltd from Wicklow has kindly sponsored the clays for this event.
