Please be aware that the Commission has released a communication presenting the Policy Options for an EU strategy on Invasive Species, planned for 2010. In the Communication the Commission
 
examines the evidence regarding the ecological, economical and social impact of invasive species in Europe, 
analyses the effectiveness of the current legal situation for tackling this problem and 
describes 4 possible options for a future EU strategy. 

Feedback from stakeholders and other EU Institutions will be taken into account by the Commission in selecting amongst those options and developing the EU Strategy on Invasive Species. To this end FACE, as participant in the DG ENV Expert Group on Alien Invasive Species, will consult with Members through the course of 2009.
