Savage Wants Your Views on ‘Wildlife and Natural Environment Bill’ Print E-mail
Tuesday, 07 September 2010

George Savage MLA has issued a statement calling for all his Upper Bann constituents to get in touch regarding their views on the forthcoming ‘Wildlife and Natural Environment Bill’.  The article was published in this weeks (7th September) Banbridge Leader.

This Bill primarily deals with the protection of the Irish Hare; this would essentially put an end to all forms of hunting with beagles or harriers and in effect could lead to a total ban of hunting with dogs.  Countryside Alliance Ireland believes there is a real possibility of further amendments being introduced which would be detrimental to country sports.  The ‘Wildlife and Natural Environment Bill’ will be coming to the assembly for final consideration in September, so time is of the essence.

Countryside Alliance Ireland would urge all of our members in the Upper Bann constituency to make contact with George Savage MLA and demonstrate your opposition to full protection for the Irish Hare and any attempt to interrupt field sports under the ‘Wildlife and Natural Environment Bill’.  We have learnt from the regional Information and Briefing meetings held, that contacting your MLA’s does help in them formulating opinions.

George Savage can be contacted at 028 4066 9004 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

We would also urge our members in other constituencies to continue lobbying your MLA’s.For advice on contacting your MLA’s or further information please contact the Countryside Alliance Ireland office.
