NI Coast Care Awards 2011 Print E-mail
Thursday, 18 August 2011

WaterwaysTIDY Northern Ireland, in association with Coca-Cola, is running the Coast Care Awards for the third year in Northern Ireland.  Designed to acknowledge the excellent work of individuals and groups involved in the Coast Care Programme, the awards recognise the vital role that volunteers play in protecting the NI coastline and inland waterways, which are enjoyed by over 2 million visitors per year.

Patricia Magee, National Coastal Officer, commented, “We want to highlight to the public the good work being done by our volunteers.  These awards should act as an inspiration; hopefully their example will be followed by others and we will see many more volunteers around the country caring for our beautiful coast.”

If you work with or know of a group that deserves an award for the work carried out on a coastal project, or if there is an individual who you think is so inspiring they deserve to be recognised for their contribution to protecting the Northern Ireland coastline then enter them into the awards.

There are 8 award categories, including both group and individual awards.  It is free and very simple to enter; click here to obtain an entry form, or by telephone on 028 9073 6920.  The closing date for entries is 5pm on Monday 19th September 2011.

All award winners will receive a commemorative award in recognition of their efforts plus a framed certificate at a special event which is taking place in Parliament Buildings on Thursday 20th October 2011.
