Under the Draft Wildlife & Natural Environment Bill 2010. If the Irish Hare is placed under Schedule 5, traditional foot hunting activities will become illegal & there will be no incentive for country sports supporters to protect its habitat. The same Bill also threatens some aspects of Game Shooting (status of Curlew & Golden Plover, ban on use of snares). Under recently published proposals from the NI Green Party, all hunting of wild mammals in Northern Ireland with hounds would be banned. A meeting will be held at Armagh City Hotel on Thursday the 13th May 2010 at 8pm to discuss these issues and to highlight the importance of solidarity within the country sports communities. Local MLA’s and councillors have also been invited to attend to give their views on these issues . |
