The Haiti Charity Shoot at Naul Clay Pigeon Shooting Club on 21/03/2010. Raised €17725 for the Goal Haiti Earth Quake Appeal.
As most people know Haiti was hit by an Earth Quake that flattened the City of Haiti and Surrounding areas. Over Two hundred thousand people were killed in Haiti. The devastation was unbelievable.
One million people in Haiti are homeless, no water, no food, and disease is starting to spread, cholera is a killer disease, they are in a hopeless position.
They need food, shelter and clean water before the monsoon rains come in a few weeks. It was not a time for politics, these people are suffering, and there are people dying. They need money and our Help

The Haiti Charity Shoot was the “Golden Idea” of Dermott Johnson of the Dodder Club and he Looked for support from his club mates in Dodder and then the members of Courtlough, Knockback and Naul CPSC to organise and run the shoot.
The event was for a very worthy cause and deserved the support of everybody involved in Clay Shooting.
It was decided to hold the shoot at Naul CPSC on the 21/03/2010 and we had a sponsorship card printed and sent to the Clubs that were willing to help and they were asked for their support and help to get sponsorship on the cards. Naul CPSC offered to give the use of the shooting ground for free.
Delvin banks and Walshestown ran their own events in aide of the charity. Delvin Banks ran a Pool Shoot at their Leinster League Shoot. The Delvin Banks Pool Shoot Raised € 421. Walshestown ran a shoot in their own grounds and Walshestown raised €1700. The shoot at Naul CPSC was took place on Sunday 21/3/2010 and what a day it was too, warm and dry, ideal shooting weather. About 200 people attended and11222 clays were used on the day. Finbar O Neill had coined the phrase “PULL 4 HAITI Charity SHOOT” and made a huge Clay Pigeon 4 feet in diameter (No problem shooting 100 straight with these clays) in his workshop in Dublin to use as an ad for the event and he put it on the back of a small truck and parked outside Courtlough Shooting Ground on St Patrick Day at the Barney Mullen shoot.
On the following Sunday morning the sun was shining bright and we were ready to start shooting at 10 o clock. We had a nice 50 Bird Sporting course over six stands, Lighting Duck, Spring Teal, Lopper, Crosser, Rabbits, And three High tower Birds from 65 feet to 100 feet high all crossing birds two from “right to left” and one from “left to right” .
We also had a very interesting Pool Stand for a Yildiz Shot Gun( sponsored courtesy of Peter Hanifin) and it was a big hit with the shooters and in the evening we had 200 entries for this stand alone. It was a fast “Quartering Right to Left” normal at about 40 meters and on report a High Tower “Left to Right crosser” out at about 45 meters and it finished with a great shoot off. Eddie Willson, Pat Walsh, David Dillon and Shane Duffy all shot ten Birds.
Shane Duffy shot first in the shoot off and shot 8 Birds, Pat Walsh shot next and surprisingly dropped the first pair of birds and killed the rest for 8 birds, David Dillon was next up and smoked the first three pairs and missed the first bird of the fourth pair and killed the last pair for 9 birds killed and looked as if he had one hand on the gun, up last to shoot was Eddie Wilson and he smoked all ten bird in great style to win the gun, A really great performance by Eddie and the rest of the lads.
In the 50 Bird Sporting Aidan Collins, Mark Mc Court, Maurice Curran, Pat Walsh and John Foley had all shot 45 Birds and it looked as if we were going to have a shoot off but one of the last to shoot Shane Duffy had other ideas and finished with 47 Birds killed to win High Gun of the day.
The shoot ran well without any delays as there were four clubs involved, we had plenty of workers and markers and the traps were kept loaded and running all day.
Thanks also to Country Side Alliance who provided insurance for the event.
The Clubs who helped to run the shoot and raised money are Dodder, Knockbrack, Courtlough, Delvin Banks, Walshestown, Hempstown and Naul Cpsc and we would like to thank all who helped and on the day to run the shoot and all who raised money and thanks to all who sponsored the shoot with prizes and Margret Spence for all her work and providing the food.
A special thanks to Finbar O Neill who did a huge amount of work on the promotion of the shoot everything else as well. Yes it was a very successful event and all very worthwhile. Well done everyone involved
