Energy Saving Week is the Energy Saving Trust’s nation-wide campaign week to encourage people to save energy and help reduce their carbon emissions from the 22-28 October 2007. This years theme is ‘a community a day’ and will emphasise the power of communities and demonstrate how friends, family, networks, clubs, societies and community figures can spread the word and move people to play their part in the fight against climate change. The Energy Saving Trust is asking everyone to commit to save 20% of the energy they use. If we all commit to save 20% of the energy we use every day, together we can help prevent climate change. Make your commitment today by doing one or more of the following things: 1. When making hot drinks only boil as much water as needed. 2. Turn down your thermostat by 1oC. 3. Switch off appliances and don’t leave them on standby. 4. Install cavity wall insulation. 5. Top up my loft insulation to 270mm (10.5 inches). 6. Replace 3 lightbulbs with Energy Saving Recommended ones. 7. Install a condensing boiler 8. Buy Energy Saving Recommended appliances. 9. Wash laundry at 30oC. 10. Leave the car at home for short journeys.
