Countryside Alliance Ireland (CAI) would like to advise their members travelling on fast ferries for shooting trips to England and Scotland, that they are not permitted to take ammunition on to these vessels under any circumstances. This is a requirement of health and safety regulations and the dangerous and hazardous goods acts and is now being rigorously enforced by all major ferry companies operating on Irish Sea routes. Travellers are permitted to take their firearms on board fast ferries, as long as they have all the relevant documentation and the Ferry Company has been notified in advance. If members wish to take ammunition along with their firearm, they must inform the ferry company on booking and must be willing to travel on a traditional type vessel. GENERAL RULES: 1. If you are not taking ammunition - make arrangements at your final destination for a supply of ammunition 2. Do not forget to take all documentation with you 3. If you want to take ammuntion - inform the ferry company and book on to a conventional ferry. Countryside Alliance Ireland is a rural campaigning organisation, "Campaigning for the Countryside, Country Sports and the rural way of life". -ENDS- |
